Participating in official competitions and any activity in the field of Football Transfers requires authorization from Sports Organizations. In this path,"Federative Rights" plays a fundamental role. Federative Right is defined as a set of rules governing the right to participate in professional matches and competitions within the framework of "Lex Sportiva" based on Coopetition between clubs.Colombian sports legislation Law 181 of January 1995 stipulates that federative rights are called sporting rights. These rights can also be found in the Rules and Regulations of the Iranian Football Federation, such as, the right to register a player, the right to play in a club or transfer the player to another club. In French Law, the intervention of international federations such as FIFA in Federative Rights is notable. In a judgment of 24 January 2006, the Criminal Division of the French Supreme Court held that the sports federations rules transcend national boundaries. Despite having the nature of sport, Federative Rights constitute the basis of a "player's economic rights", Consequently, a professional footballer's "Economic Rights derived from Federative Rights", demonstrates commercial potential of Federative Rights, and as an asset can be defined as any expected financial revenues derived from the federative right, such as the player's image rights and transfer fees paid for players. In legal systems including the French and Brazil, these rights are separated. While the economic rights can be shared or divided by clubs and players, the federative rights belong to a club and cannot be transferred by virtue of being affiliated to Sporting Governing Bodies.
