Inherent human dignity is a type of honour and dignity that all humans naturally and equally enjoy due to their ability to reason, think, choose, free will, authority, and divine presence and inspiration. This type of dignity is inherent and inseparable from humans and, contrary to what some philosophers and thinkers believe, is not something that can be lost by committing crimes against oneself or others. Inherent human dignity, which is the opposite of acquired dignity, is so important in the international human rights system and international documents that it is recognized as the foundation of human rights, privileges, and duties, to the point that even the realization of values ​​such as justice, freedom, and equality is not possible without it. This research, which was conducted using a descriptive-analytical method, showed that human dignity plays a fundamental role in the formation, reform, change, interpretation, justification, legitimacy, or illegitimacy of criminal punishments.
