Abstract
Artificial intelligence technologies are increasingly being applied in various legal domains, including criminal investigations. This paper explores the role of AI in enhancing the quality of criminal investigative processes, with a focus on the legitimacy and credibility of digital evidence in Iran's legal system. The study addresses various applications of AI, including the extraction and analysis of digital data, crime scene reconstruction, mobile phone evidence analysis, and criminal behavior detection in public spaces. Additionally, the impact of modern technologies on analyzing suspicious communications, interviewing suspects, and questioning witnesses is examined. The paper also highlights the importance of aligning these technologies with Iran's legal requirements, as well as the challenges and legal necessities for regulating their use in criminal investigations. Finally, the paper discusses the need for effective legislation to oversee the use of intelligent technologies in criminal investigative processes in Iran. The study emphasizes that the adoption of AI can significantly improve the speed and accuracy of criminal investigations, provided it is properly integrated with existing laws.
